The Reweaving methods we are experts in:
INWEAVING: Inweaving involves carefully threading new yarns into the damaged area, replicating the original weave pattern. This technique is suitable for repairing small tears or holes in woven fabrics.
FRENCH REWEAVING: Also known as invisible weaving, French reweaving involves weaving new threads into the damaged area while aligning them with the existing fabric’s grain and pattern. This technique is ideal for repairing fine fabrics and achieving seamless repairs.
OVERWEAVING: Overweaving entails covering the damaged area with new threads, creating a layer that blends with the surrounding fabric. While it may not replicate the original weave pattern, overweaving is effective for repairing larger damages and areas with missing threads.
PATCH REWEAVING: Patch reweaving involves inserting a matching fabric patch into the damaged area and weaving around its edges to blend it with the surrounding fabric. This technique is suitable for repairing larger holes or damages where the original fabric cannot be rewoven.
Reweaving vs Patching, Mending and Resewing: Here’s how reweaving compares to other clothing repair techniques:
PATCHING: Patching involves covering a damaged area with a piece of fabric or patch and sewing it in place. While effective for larger tears or holes, patches can alter the garment’s appearance and may not always blend well with the original fabric.
DARNING: Darning is a method of repairing small holes or tears by hand-stitching over them with matching thread. While darning can be effective for minor damage, it may leave visible stitches and alter the fabric’s texture.
OVERWEAVING: Overweaving entails covering the damaged area with new threads, creating a layer that blends with the surrounding fabric. While it may not replicate the original weave pattern, overweaving is effective for repairing larger damages and areas with missing threads.
